QUESTIONS
We get lots of questions from people enquiring about either motorcycle training or Qride Training and Assessment so we have listed a few here for your convenience, however do not hesitate to contact us for further information.. That's what we are here for....
Q. Who can learn to ride?
A. Anyone can learn to ride a motorcycle. Any 2 wheeled experience will help, even if it is riding a push-bike but this isn’t necessary. We have taught people from late teens to early seventies.
A. To ride a motorcycle on Queensland roads, you must have one of these licences.
* learner (class RE)
* provisional (class RE or R)
* open (class RE or R).
See info re LAMS for motorcycle sizing.
Q. What is LAMS?
A. Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAM Scheme)
From 1 July 2009, the Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAM Scheme) will restrict class RE (restricted) motorcycle licence holders to a combined power-to-weight ratio and engine capacity restriction. . The Department of Transport and Main Roads web site has further information on the LAM Scheme including a full list of LAM Scheme approved motorcycles and scooters.
Getting your motorcycle learner licence
* Before you can apply for a motorcycle learner licence, you must hold a provisional or open car licence for at least 12 months.
* You will need to complete a written test and make your licence application at a Queensland Transport customer service centre, authorised Queensland Government Agency Program office or a licence-issuing police station.
* Once you've obtained a motorcycle learner licence, you must display a yellow L-plate at the rear of your motorcycle or on your vest.
* You can find out more about getting your motorcycle learner licence and the laws for young drivers and riders on the Queensland Transport website
Q. How long will it take for me to get my license?
A. We are asked this all of the time. The time it will take you to become skilled enough and competent to ride a motorcycle on the road and interacting with other road users is solely dependant on your learning curve. Some people pick things up easier or quicker than others. That’s just part of being human. As a result the amount of pre Assessment training will vary from person to person.
Q.How much does it cost?
A Our courses are very very well priced when compared to other types of formal training and services. Call or email us for pricing details and don't forget to ask if there is a monthly special running.
.
Q. Is it dangerous?
A. It can be. Many activities including driving a car or riding a motorcycle carry an element of risk. We can become injured, or worse. Our course is safety oriented to minimise these risks.
Q. So how many sessions will I need?
A. On average someone with little or no motorcycle riding experience should expect between 2 and 8 x 2 hour sessions however some people may need more.
Q. I am afraid of riding in traffic, where do we learn to ride?
Q How fast can I go?
A. We always ride within the speed limit and prevailing conditions but we are able to practice at speeds up to 100 km per hour at our training area prior to getting out onto the “real roads”.
Q. What do I need to bring to the course or lesson.?
A. Your RE learner license, long trousers and covered footwear and any other motorcycle safety equipment that you have, If you do not have any of this equipment we can supply it to you at no cost for your session.
Q. I don’t have a bike to use, do you?
A. Yes we can provide you with motorbike for your 1 on 1 learning sessions or your Q Ride training and assessment courses.
